Climate change will be a defining theme in the global economy, industries and financial markets over the coming years and decades. To date, we are concerned that the investment industry has spent more time urging action and marketing funds than measuring and managing the risks or opportunities climate change will present. At Schroders, we have investing in developing more robust analysis and tools to navigate the potential disruption ahead.

Our proprietary Climate Progress Dashboard is a key part of that tool kit. It provides an objective view of the temperature increase we are heading for, based on a range of progress indicators. Despite climate change’s high media profile, our research suggests the efforts currently underway point to a temperature rise closer to 4° than the 2° commitment global leaders made in Paris. Whether much tougher policies are introduced or temperatures continue to escalate, investors will not escape the effects of climate change.
